What is the best thing that happened to you this year?
The best thing that I did this year was go to Tasmania with my Dad. It was a reward for my good school grades. My favourite place we visited was MONA Gallery. I found the art was really interesting and inspiring.
Is art something you do or would like to do in the future?
I love Art at school, and I enjoy interior design, so maybe something in that field would be fun
Tell me something interesting about yourself that not many people know?
I am doing a dance assistant course at my dance school, learning all about how to teach younger students. It’s a lot of fun!
That sounds like fun – do you have hopes to be a teacher one day?
I'm not sure I want to be a dance teacher, but I wanted the experience of learning how to teach
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be an actor! I’m really interested in action and sci-fi movies or comedy television shows, but anything that lets me be a new character would be awesome!
What is your favourite thing to wear that you will never throw out?
I had a pair of Converse high-tops that were my favourite, but they don’t fit me anymore. I always like to have a pair of cool, comfy runners. At the moment, I love my Adidas Stan Smith trainers - they go with so many of my outfits.
Can you tell us a little bit about what you have been up to lately, in terms of photo shoots or acting?
At the moment, I’m working on my showreel, and going to auditions. I was also really lucky to attend an American acting workshop with Tyler Coppin at Austin Acting Studios… and I’m also rehearsing for my school production of Footloose.
Have you done any workshops, like runway or acting workshops before? How do you think it has helped you gain confidence and learn more about the industry?
I go to acting classes at Austin Acting Studios every week, and dance classes - ballet, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary. I’ve done a few different workshops including modelling, auditioning, casting, speech/accent classes. One of my favourites was ‘Camp Curtain Call’ which was a 7-day away-from-home camp that was run by musical theatre professionals. We trained in acting, singing, dancing, stage presence and musical theatre with some amazing mentors. I made heaps of friends at CCC and am proud to see them doing so well in the industry. My confidence grows with each new experience, even if I am not successful in getting a role. I’ve learnt so much in the last 2 years since I’ve been working on my modelling and acting.
Wow – you are busy! Do you have any advice for anyone just starting out?
I would say believe in yourself. If you don’t get that one job that you wanted, keep going. Surround yourself with family and friends who support you. You are only inexperienced for the first audition, because after that you have already learnt something. The perfect modelling or acting job for you is out there somewhere – be patient. Do your research and be prepared as much as you can, this will always help overcome your nerves.
Do you follow any models or actors that you admire?
I follow heaps of actors and models. Some of my favourites would be Tom Holland, who plays Spiderman in the latest Marvel movies, Hugh Jackman, who once came to one of my dance classes, and Margot Robbie, who I love in all her movies and modelling campaigns.
Do you have any special talents, play instruments or play sports?
I’m learning the trumpet at school, which is really fun… and I have played AFL football for the last 5 years and love getting out on the field with my team!
If you were to get the coolest modelling or acting job tomorrow, what would it be doing, who for and why?
I love sci fi stories, so I would love to have a role in a series like Stranger Things! I think the kids’ characters are really interesting. I’d love a role like Eleven.
I’d also love to model for a national brand that works in print, social and screen.
What is your favourite thing to do in Summer?
I love going to my friend Zoe’s house and swimming in her pool. I live near lots of beaches, so I’m always hanging with my family by the water too.
If you had one wish what would it be?
I would wish for a stop to plastic pollution and for the extinct animals to be alive again.
