AGE: 9

AGENCY: RPR Talent Maganement

INSTA: @jvr_j

The little mag team were beyond excited when we heard Javier would be in town to join us for this issue. Javier just oozes the natural vibe of a true superstar, you can’t help but be drawn to him. With his oh so polite, friendly and infectiously happy personality, we would work with him again in a heartbeat. We spoke with him & mum Alicia about life in the top end, what summer is like up there and why they love coming to Melbourne.

Javier, you have braved the cold and made your way to Melbourne, do you like coming to Melbourne and what’s your favourite thing to do when your here?

I always love to travel to places (we travel a lot), especially to Melbourne! My favourite thing would be meeting new people (and the people iv already met), and having lots of fun on photo shoots!

What is the best thing that has happened to you this year?
The best thing this year was when I went on the high ropes with my mum in Thailand. So much fun!

Tell me something interesting about yourself, that not many people know.
I love to make slime, and I can’t dance as good as my mum.

What made you take the leap and have a go at modelling / acting?
It was my mum really that suggested that I try modelling, and for acting…I just thought I’d give it a try, because I can’t dance well hahahaha…. But I would love to be on TV!

So your mum sounds like a good dancer. Does she give you any tips?

HAHAHA, we are both laughing! She said she goes ok on a dance floor, but nothing special! She does try to teach me a move or two sometimes.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I’m not really sure… but maybe something to do with art or helping people and animals.

You have a real love for animals – do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a beautiful French Bulldog named Ruby Coconut, she’s like my sister :) I would have loads of other pets if I was able to.

What is your favourite thing to wear that you will never throw out?
Black clothes because I blend in and because it’s like being a ninja.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you have been up to lately, in terms of photo shoots or acting?
I not long ago did a photoshoot with Nick Walters and Kylie Southwood in Melbourne And have done a few shoots with some of the best local photographers in Darwin

Alicia (mum): Living in Darwin are there many auditions and modelling opportunities up there?

There is next to nothing, no agencies who rep kids under 16- so, unfortunately, the opportunities are next to none. There would be a real market for someone to set something up in Darwin- if someone was in the position to.

If there is a tvc, photoshoot or film being shot in your local area, do you get notified to audition?

We don’t get informed of any possible jobs, it’s mainly if we see it, or someone tags us in it which is nice. We have a little bit of flexibility with travel, so are very keen and willing to travel interstate for any opportunities ;)

What is your favourite thing to do in Summer?
Climbing trees and swimming.

Summer in Darwin can get pretty hot I imagine, is it still the best time of year or do you like spring / autumn more?

Darwin has either dry and cool (but still a bit hot) or hot and wet hahaha. It’s very nice when it’s cool (22-28 degrees), but we have some awesome storms which are fun to play in...and some pretty amazing skies too!!

Do you remember the very first job you did, and how did it make you feel?
I remember going to a casting for an ad and they just made it so much fun for me. I left feeling like I’d just been at the best play date!

Are you with a talent agency, if so who, and how long have you been with them?
I’m with RPR Talent Management for talent and have been for about 9 months, but would love to also be able to be apart of an agency which focuses on modelling (wink wink ;) )

Do you follow any models or actors that you admire on social media, if so who, and why are they the best?

I think Harvey Petito is cool! We could both do a Just Jeans shoot together…hahaha….and Rob Collins…he’s an indigenous Darwin guy, like me, and works hard and seems to love what he does.

Do you have any special talents, play any instruments or play sports?
Well… drawing and building Lego… and I play tennis and basketball.

If you were to get the coolest modeling or acting job tomorrow, what would it be doing, who for, and why?
I love Industrie stuff and Ralph Lauren, so I would love to model for them…. ooh, and if I could be in a Harry Potter movie…or something. I LOVE Harry Potter!!

What advice would you give someone who was thinking about getting involved in doing modeling or acting but may think - I’m too shy or I don’t know what to do, I don’t have any experience.
You should always try new things. Pretend no one is there and don’t be shy because it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. I had no experience, and I’m still trying to get better at things because I haven’t been doing it long.
