MEET: Nicola Parker
Jet setter Nicola, is so very at home in front of the camera. With a warm, kind personality and aspirations to own her own label and do runway in Paris, we are sure there is nothing that this creative girl can’t do!
What is the best thing that has happened to you this year?
Going to Europe for 7 weeks. Seeing all the famous landmarks and having fun with my family.
How exciting – did you visit a few countries? what country was your favourite?
We visited several countries but my first favorite would have to be Belgian my second favorite France and my third favorite would have to be Finland.
Tell me something interesting about yourself, that not many people know.
I have a real passion for singing and designing houses and clothes.
What made you take the leap and have a go at modelling / acting?
I like how I got to represent some amazing brands and then travel worldwide for photo shoots! It’s been so exciting so far!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
It would be my dream to be a singer, or a fashion designer and have my own label called ‘Mischief and Magic’.
You already have your own label name – fantastic! What sort of clothing will it be?
It will be mix of casual and formal wear for girls.
What is your favourite thing to wear that you will never throw out?
A clothing item that I would never throw out would have to be my cute red jumpsuit.
Can you tell us a little bit about what you have been up to lately, in terms of photo shoots or acting?
I enjoy my weekly acting classes where I learn a new script, and some weekends I’m out doing photo shoots.
What is your favourite thing to do in Summer?
In summer, I love eating cold refreshing ice cream.
Do you remember the very first job you did, and how did it make you feel?
My first job was in a short film called ‘The Last Hurrah’ and I was only 4 so I don’t remember much from it, except my role was ‘the nose picker’… ha ha ha!
Two years later, I remember filming for Bunnings Warehouse… I made a paintbrush puppet. I felt really excited to be on set and I love making art and craft, so I was so happy that I could actually make something that I could take home with me.
Have you done any workshops, like runway or acting workshops before? How do you think it has helped you gain confidence and learn more about the industry?
Yes, I’ve done both runway and acting workshops. I think it’s helped me because it shows me different ways to do things better.
Do you follow any models or actors that you admire on social media, if so who, and why are they the best?
My mum handles my instagram account, so I don’t really follow anyone, but the person I admire is Emma Watson. I think that she’s the best because she shows her emotions through her acting.
Do you have any special talents, play any instruments or play sports?
I love to draw and I play the recorder. I am a red belt 3 in taekwondo, and hope to be a black belt one day soon.
If you were to get the coolest modelling or acting job tomorrow, what would it be doing, who for, and why?
Walking the catwalk in Paris in a big poofy dress… or I would love to work on a Harry Potter type film. I think JK Rowling is the most amazing author and loved reading the series!
What advice would you give someone who was thinking about getting involved in doing modelling or acting but may think - I’m too shy or I don’t know what to do, I don’t have any experience.
I would say to believe in yourself. No one is going to judge you on who you are, so just have fun and be yourself!
If you had one wish what would it be?
I’d wish for a story I’ve written ‘The Story of the Two Cruise Ships’ to become a reality.
